Jersey Devil – Variegated – Black, Brown and Ochre
In New Jersey Folklore, the Jersey Devil is a legendary creature inhabiting the forests of the Pine Barrens in South Jersey. There are many variations, but it is commonly described as a flying biped with hooves, a kangaroo-like creature with a goat head and leathery wings, horns, small arms with clawed hands and a forked tail. It has been reported to move quickly and emits a high-pitched blood-curdling scream.
Barbara A. Woods further elaborates on the origin of the creature as the 13th child of the Leeds family. According to popular folklore, the Jersey Devil originated with a Pine Barrens resident named Jane Leeds, known as "Mother Leeds." The legend states that Mother Leeds had twelve children and, after finding she was pregnant for the thirteenth time, cursed the child in frustration, crying that the child would be the "devil." In 1735, Mother Leeds was in labor on a stormy night while her friends gathered around her. Born as a normal child, the thirteenth child changed to a creature with hooves, a goat's head, bat wings, and a forked tail. Growling and screaming, the child beat everyone with its tail before flying up the chimney and heading into the pines. In some versions of the tale, Mother Leeds was supposedly a witch and the child's father was the devil, himself. Some versions of the legend also state that there was a subsequent attempt by local clergymen to exorcise the creature from the Pine Barrens.

Why does my yarn look different from the photo?
Photos on the product listings are examples of the colorway you will receive. I try to include different bases as the different fiber contents can take the dye differently. I use the same dye formulations when reproducing colorways, but due to the hand dyed nature and the difference in computer screens, the product you receive my look slightly different than the original photo. The appearance of the colorway and the saturation may differ from time to time, which adds to the uniqueness of the yarn. Multiple skein orders will always be dyed together to help ensure consistency within ordered colorways.
My order is wrong? What should I do?
Contact me via the form on the website. I am sorry but occasionally I could mix-up skeins when packing orders, but I will always make it right.
